No Frumpy on These Hangers {Day 3 :: WARDROBE}

My closet is in recovery. My wardrobe? In repair. Monthly I seek a bohemian blouse or pair of pocket-trousers to build it back up. For so many beautiful mom-giving years, I’ve given up fashion for little futures—jars of pain, beautiful books, and every day adventures. And in the meantime, my wardrobe died away.

What I want to wear is a black blazer I love, a pair of jeans that fit just right and have absolutely no muffin top or skinny about them. I want to wear a flowy floral dress with a v-neck that draws my husband’s attention to my neckline and makes me feel wrapped in the beauty with which God endowed me.

Oh, love is this constant sacrifice of giving up what we love for those we hold dear. But sometimes a woman needs to open wide her closet doors, pull those frumpy blouses off the hangers, and remember she’s worth an outfit that makes her look like herself—the one she’s finding.

  • Indeed and amen! 🙂

  • I’m trying to find that woman again in me! Thank you! “that makes her look like herself—the one she’s finding.” I love this and am inspired x

  • Girl, yes. I’ve lost my style in kids and moving overseas and weight loss and everything. Trying to respect a culture that isn’t mine while trying to keep my husband’s interest while dodging play-doh and paint. Working on it! Can’t wait to do some shopping in America. Where do you like to shop?

  • “Oh, love is this constant sacrifice of giving up what we love for those we hold dear.” This thought both moves me and pains me with it’s holy truth- and yet I’m comforted by the idea that it’s part of the universal human experience. Thank you Christina.

  • <3 I was just having a similar conversation with my daughter this weekend. We spend lots of time to make sure she always feels beautiful and loved, but mama needs some of that too. 🙂 Great post today. Excited to be writing for 31 days with you. 😀

    Have you heard of the clothing company LuLaRoe? I love how I feel in their clothes and how awesome I look.
