I forget to date my husband and he forgets to date me. We get busy with making it through the day. We plop ourselves on the couch, exhausted and longing for numbing screens or simple sleep.
God has been dating me on the pages of these 31 days. He reminds me how I vacillate between trying so hard (like my husband and I did while dating for 4 long years) or making little to no space for my God to be with me.
The best dates with my husband lately are the ones in which we talk, eat, and walk. Not a lot of fancy involved. We are quite simply together.
God wants to date me, court me, woo me with his presence. It’s not flashy or furious, it’s rather quiet and subtle. It’s the moments he walks round a corner with me, hands me a wildflower bouquet and kisses me on the cheek. I think he likes me.
This is Day 29 of 31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes.
