When Light Breaks You Open

by Christina Hubbard

Only the strength of His light

Carries me through

Gray days.

Within this mortal cage

I expand

Until ribs cannot

Hold oxygen

One second

More.

Once I burst

Clean open.

A crack in the shell

Split under

Pressure.

When you see me next,

Brilliance might just

Blind you.

  • The Light is pushing my sour attitude about my mil out of my cupboard of resentments and grudges. It’s time to let that puppy go!

  • Tanya Cowley

I really love this. Well done.

  • Emma Hughes

Love your vivid imagery! The light contained then exploding out from the ribs, cage, shell – so good!

  • Tara Ulrich

    Love!

  • Carol Emmert

From my arms to the dear ones around me. I cannot help but hug them and tell them they are loved.
